Adnan Rashid: South Sudan is a country that was forged by Christian missionaries. They campaigned for a separate “Christian” homeland for Christians. It seems missionaries didn’t have a plan to run the country after it was created.
Another question that comes to mind is why isn’t this violence attributed to Christianity? Soldiers killing and raping are evidently Christian. Will the global media now use terms like “Christian Terrorism”, just as “Islamic Terrorism” is used freely?
Our hearts go out to the innocent victims of all savage wars…

Women and children are being slaughtered in South Sudan by soldiers who said to be using knives for the massacres to save their ammunition.
The brutal conflict, sparking UN warnings over ethnic cleansing, is driving a devastating famine that is threatening millions with starvation in the country.
One woman who fled violence in the city of Yei told how she saw her best friend and her children, including three-month-old baby, butchered.
“The children and the elderly, they slaughtered them,” Sylvia, 31, told Save the Children aid workers.
“When the armed groups get you with your children, they will kill all of you.
“They will take you from your homes and slit your throat. For the small children they stab them, then they die later.
“I’ve seen children tied to their dead mother and thrown in the river – soldiers have been doing this a lot.”

A report presented to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on Tuesday concluded that both government forces and non-state groups were targeting civilian populations on the basis of their ethnic identity with killings, abductions, gang rape and sexual violence on an “epic” scale.
Joy, a 14-year-old girl, was eight months pregnant when she travelled 50 miles to safety over four days in scorching heat.

Joan, a village midwife who travelled with the teenager, recounted armed groups coming to rape young girls.
“Ten men can sleep with one woman, no problem if you die,” she added. “When you are a woman they rape you and kill you, we are much safer here.”
A UN survey found 70 per cent of women living in “protection of civilian camps” in the South Sudanese capital of Juba had been raped, the vast majority by police or soldiers, while a staggering 80 per cent had been forced to watch someone else being assaulted.
This is not new. These cases have been highlighted for many years. The media and politicians have turned a blind eye to these atrocities. In 2015 South Sudan army raped then burnt girls alive, the UN reported.
Sadly, this is common place in some African countries. They are no different to what ISIS (Daesh) have committed. The only difference is, while ISIS has been given worldwide media attention, the latter, the Christian militias have not been given any media attention. These militias (soldiers) have committed rape, murder and many more heinous crimes.
(1) – Imbonerakure youth group from the country of Burundi, who defend Christian president Pierre Nkurunziza, the group have been labelled as terrorists because of the indiscriminate killing of innocent people. Imbonerakure, is active group formed in 2010. Human Rights Watch (HRW) states:
“Members of the imbonerakure—the youth league of the ruling National Council for the Defense of Democracy-Forces for the Defense of Democracy (CNDD-FDD)—committed acts of violence, including killings, beatings, rape, threats, and extortion against their perceived opponents and other Burundians.”
(2) – Christian Militias In CAR Have Carried Out Ethnic Cleansing Of The Muslim Population. In CAR: Muslims forced to convert to Christianity. Christian Militia Rape And Kill Muslim Children In Central African Republic.
(3) – LRA rebels stepped up attacks, abducted children in C.Africa: the UN reported. Radio Vaticana reports:
“The Lord’s Resistance Army rebels, who mutilate civilians and kidnap children to use as fighters and sex slaves, stepped-up attacks and abductions in the Central African Republic during the first three months of this year, the United Nations said on Wednesday.”
