A 51-year-old man, Adam Purinton, a resident of Olathe, Kansas is allegedly accused of shooting three men who were having dinner and drinking in a very busy, and crowded bar.
Witnesses heard the “white-supremacist” Adam Purinton shout,
“get out of my country”
This was shortly before shooting the two men he thought were from the Middle East. Both of the victims are engineers at Garmin, it is reported that they are originally from India, and are of Hindu descent.
The perpetrator of this shooting also said before he was arrested that he had killed,
“two Middle Eastern men”,
The Star has learned.
In a statement released by Garmin:
“Unfortunately, two associates on our Aviation Systems Engineering team, Srinivas Kuchibhotla and Alok Madasani, were shot. We are devastated to inform you that Srinivas passed away and Alok is currently recovering in the hospital,” Garmin said in the email.
In a public statement, Garmin said, “We’re saddened that two Garmin associates were involved in last night’s incident, and we express our condolences to the family and friends of our co-workers involved. Garmin will have grievance counselors on-site and available for its associates today and tomorrow.”
Adam Purinton was shortly thereafter arrested at an Applebee’s in Clinton, MO after telling a bar worker what had happened in early Thursday morning, about five hours after the shooting,
Purinton, 51, is being held on charges of 1st-degree murder now.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Qasim Rashid, was devasted hearing this news, and called this senseless killing a “white supremacy terrorism”:
“Just another example of white supremacy terrorism who bragged about “killing two middle eastern men” after he shot them. But it’s just easier if we pretend white supremacy terrorism doesn’t exist. Let’s focus more on refugees who have never once killed a single American, ever.”
He also added,
“This hits closer to home for me than usual because this is in the same town as several close Muslim friends.
Requesting your prayers for their safety. And praying the administration acts to stop white supremacy terrorism, which is currently growing stronger every single day.”
