The second Caliph Umar Ibn Khattab condemned some boys for mutilating an animal. The Prophet Muhammed cursed the one that did this such heinous crime against an animal (p).
Abu Abdullah Ahmad bin Muhammad Bin Hanbal Ash-Shaibani (780 – 855 CE):
“3133. Sa’eed bin Jubair said: I walked with Ibn Umar and Ibn Abbas through one of the streets of Madinah and we saw some young boys who had taken a hen as a target and were shooting at it, and they (the owners of the hen) would have every arrow that missed it. He got ANGRY and said: Who has done this? And they scattered. Ibn Umar said: The Messenger of Allah cursed the one who mutilates an animal.” (English Translation Of Musnad Imam Ahmad Bin Hanbal, [Ahadeeth Edited, Researched And referenced by Darussalam: Translated by Nasiruddin Al-Khattab – Edited by Huda Al-Khattab, Maktaba Dar-us-Salam, 2012], volume 3, page 120)(Isnaad Saheeh))
