Quran and Hadith on Feeding the Poor/Hungry.
“(The righteous are those) who feed the poor, the orphan and the captive for the love of God, saying: ‘We feed you for the sake of God Alone; we seek from you neither reward nor thanks.” – Quran, 76:8-9
Prophet Muhammad (p) said:
“Feed the hungry, visit the sick and set free the captives.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari, volume 7, Hadith 552)
What rewards do we get if we feed the poor?
Feeding the hungry is part of the required actions from the believers. Those who believe and do good deeds, God promises to reward them with forgiveness and gardens of eternity where they will dwell in joy forever.
Currently, there is enough food in the world to feed the world population and more, and the potential for growing food is greater than the projected rise in world population. However, daily one in every nine person in the world goes to bed hungry!
